AC Compressor Overheating From Dirty Condenser Coil in Prairieville

Performed HVAC maintenance and system diagnostics after the air-conditioning compressor was overheating and shutting off on internal thermal overload. The compressor was initially drawing approximately 30 amps, exceeding its 23.7-amp rated load amperage. Inspection found a large ant mound, dirt, and debris accumulated inside the condenser and along the lower portion of the condensing coil, severely restricting heat transfer. Thoroughly cleaned the condensing coil and removed the ant mound and accumulated debris from inside the condenser. Allowed the compressor to cool, restarted the system, and checked operating pressures and amperage. After cleaning, compressor amperage decreased to approximately 19–20 amps, and the compressor was no longer overheating or shutting off on thermal overload. Verified the system was operating at the completion of service.

AC Condenser Coil Cleaning and Refrigerant Service in Baton Rouge

Performed an air-conditioning system inspection and found the outdoor condensing coil heavily impacted with dirt, grass, and debris, restricting airflow. Cleaned the condensing coil to restore airflow and improve system efficiency. Checked refrigerant pressures, found the system low on R-410A, and added 4 pounds of R-410A refrigerant. Verified the system was cooling at the completion of service.

Responded to Tropical Smoothie Café in Heritage Crossing on Highway 30 after a burnt odor was reported. Found the heated condensate evaporator pan filled with buildup. Cleaned the condensate evaporator pan thoroughly, cleaned the evaporator coil, and cleaned the evaporator coil drain pan. The burnt odor was no longer present after service.

Performed HVAC maintenance and cleaned a heavily soiled outdoor condenser coil. Found compressor wiring rubbing against copper tubing and protected the worn section with electrical tape. Also found coil-cabinet insulation separated on both sides and resecured it with spray adhesive.
