Duct Repair & Airflow Solutions in the Baton Rouge Area

Air Innovations provides residential duct repair and airflow solutions for uneven temperatures, weak airflow, leaking or damaged ductwork, return-air problems, hot rooms, and poor air distribution throughout Gonzales, Prairieville, Baton Rouge, Walker, Denham Springs, and nearby South Louisiana communities.

As a trusted local HVAC contractor, Air Innovations evaluates the duct system, airflow, return air, filters, registers, and equipment operation before recommending repairs or adjustments.

Improve Comfort Throughout Your Home

Your air conditioner may be operating while leaking, damaged, crushed, disconnected, restricted, poorly insulated, or unbalanced ductwork prevents conditioned air from reaching certain rooms.

Duct Repair and Reconnection

Repair for leaking, damaged, sagging, crushed, disconnected, poorly supported, or deteriorated duct sections.

Weak Airflow and Hot Rooms

Evaluation for weak vents, long duct runs, closed dampers, restrictions, poor balancing, and rooms that remain warmer than the rest of the home.

Return Air and Restrictions

Inspection of filters, return grilles, return ducts, blower airflow, and restrictions that may limit the amount of air the HVAC system can move.

Signs Your Duct System May Need Attention

  • One room is hotter than another
  • Weak airflow from certain vents
  • High electric bills
  • Dusty rooms or dirty vent areas
  • System running constantly
  • Whistling or rushing-air sounds
  • Rooms that never feel comfortable
  • Poor humidity control
  • Visible damaged or sagging ducts
  • Air leaking into the attic or crawlspace

Our Duct and Airflow Evaluation Process

Review the Comfort Problem

We identify which rooms are uncomfortable, when the problem occurs, and whether the concern is temperature, airflow, humidity, noise, or system runtime.

Inspect Ducts and Airflow

We inspect accessible supply and return ducts, filters, registers, dampers, insulation, visible leaks, restrictions, and blower operation as needed.

Identify the Restriction or Air Loss

We determine whether conditioned air is being lost, restricted, poorly distributed, limited by return airflow, or affected by another HVAC or building condition.

Explain Repair Options

We explain whether the solution involves sealing, reconnecting, supporting, insulating, replacing a duct section, improving return air, or adjusting airflow.

Complete and Recheck

After approved work, we review the repaired area and recheck system operation, airflow, and the original comfort concern when practical.

Why Ductwork and Airflow Matter

A high-quality HVAC system cannot provide the expected comfort when conditioned air leaks into an attic or crawlspace, is restricted before reaching a room, or cannot return to the equipment properly. Correct airflow supports comfort, efficiency, moisture removal, and normal equipment operation.

Duct Repair Frequently Asked Questions

Why is one bedroom hotter than the rest of my house?

A hotter bedroom may have a leaking, crushed, disconnected, restricted, undersized, or poorly insulated duct. Return airflow, insulation, sun exposure, and room load can also contribute.

Why is airflow weak from one vent but strong from the others?

Weak airflow at one vent can be caused by a closed damper, crushed flex duct, disconnected duct, duct leak, restriction, long duct run, blocked register, or improperly sized branch.

Should I close vents in unused rooms to push more air into a hot room?

Usually no. Closing several vents can increase duct pressure and reduce total system airflow rather than solve the problem.

Can leaking ducts raise my electric bill?

Yes. Leaking supply ducts can lose cooled air into an attic or crawlspace, while return leaks can pull hot, humid, or dusty air into the system.

Do airflow problems mean I need all new ductwork?

No. Some problems can be corrected by reconnecting, sealing, supporting, insulating, resizing, or replacing only the affected duct sections.

Can duct problems make my home feel humid?

They can. Return leaks may pull humid air into the system, while low airflow or poor distribution can affect cooling performance and moisture removal.

Can Air Innovations add or improve return air?

In some homes, adding or improving return-air capacity can help the system move air more effectively. The equipment requirements, filter setup, grille sizing, available space, and duct design must be evaluated first.

How do you diagnose a duct or airflow problem?

The evaluation may include checking filters, registers, dampers, blower operation, supply and return ducts, visible leaks, restrictions, damaged insulation, room temperatures, and airflow.

Failed Zone Damper Actuator and Damaged Return Ductboard in Prairieville

Responded to a complaint of poor airflow to the downstairs living area. Performed diagnostics on the zoning system and verified the zone control board was operating properly. Found the Honeywell power-close, spring-open Zone 1 damper actuator had failed, preventing the downstairs damper from opening correctly during a cooling call. Manually secured the damper in the open position to temporarily restore airflow and cooling until the actuator can be replaced. While inspecting the attic, found the ductboard plate above the return-air grille had been stepped on and crushed. The damaged return ductboard is allowing the system to pull unconditioned attic air into the return, reducing efficiency and increasing the cooling load. Verified refrigerant operation and found the system operating within an acceptable range at the time of testing.

Disconnected Kitchen Ducts Found at Stefano’s Authentic Italian

Inspected the attic ductwork at Stefano’s Authentic Italian near Highway 42 and Airline Highway. Found two 8-inch supply ducts disconnected from their ceiling grilles and discharging conditioned air into the attic. Provided an estimate to rework the duct system with four 8-inch drops serving the kitchen. Also found the freezer condenser rejecting heat into the attic and recommended venting it outdoors. No ductwork or venting corrections were completed during this visit.

Located Hidden Attic Filter Base for Easier Filter Changes

Investigated the customer’s difficult filter-access setup, which required removing a ceiling grille. Located the system’s existing filter base behind the attic furnace and showed the customer where the 20x25x5 filter is designed to be installed, eliminating the need to remove the ceiling grille for routine filter changes.

Closed Duct Damper Restored Airflow

Found a closed duct damper that was preventing airflow to the room. Cut an access opening in the supply plenum, reached and opened the damper, and restored airflow.
